If you want to understand how food impacts your health in ways you may not have thought of, you definitely need to read It Starts With Food. Of all the health, nutrition, & food books I’ve read over the last 6 months, this was definitely one of the easier books to digest. I purchased the audio book version from Amazon/Audible & listened to it on my 40 minute commute to & from work for about a week.

I’m pretty picky about voices on audio books & I enjoyed Melissa & Dallas Hartwig, each taking turns reading different parts of It Starts With Food. This book is the first one they recommend to read before starting the Whole30 program & it has a lot of great info packed in.
They explain the science behind food & its effects on hormones in your body & your body sends the messages it does and you may even figure out very quickly why you feel the way you feel or can’t lose that weight you’ve been struggling with.
This book doesn’t tell you how to implement the Whole30 program in any great detail, but it serves as a great foundation to help you understand why you would want to do a Whole30. You may want to lose 10 pounds, but understanding how sugar tells your body to store fat may be what you need to stay motivated when you’re thinking about quitting your Whole30 on day 13.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the Whole30 program or even just someone who wants to learn more about health & nutrition. Have you read It Starts With Food, Yet? Which part was the most eye-opening for you?
